As is often the case with skiers who delve deeper into the sport, they want to learn how their skis were constructed. They built their own ski presses, and while the first two attempts failed, the third attempt succeeded. When crafting their initial pairs of skis, the first two were not rideable, but the third pair made it from top to bottom.
Initially, the goal was not to build a company but to learn more about skiing and have fun. Once their ski press began producing quality skis, they started making custom skis for friends, charging only the cost of materials and a 30-pack of beer. As word spread throughout town, they became known as "The Rocky Mountain Underground Guys." Soon, they had stacks of 30-packs of beer reaching the garage roof, realizing they had built something more significant than anticipated.
